College of Nursing Diversity Coordinator, Valerie Garr, MA, is a recipient of the 2018 UI Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant.

Garr is developing a new initiative called College of Nursing Networks and Engagement in Communities Through Service (CONNECTS), which builds stronger partnerships between the College of Nursing and targeted K-12 populations. 

The Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant program supports new projects and programs with an immediate impact enhancing the diversity goals of the University of Iowa’s Strategic Plan 2016-2021. Up to five Seed Grants are awarded annually, with a maximum of $1,000 each.
