Biography

Dr. Schoenfelder's areas of teaching and clinical interests are health promotion for older adults and care of frail elders. She currently teaches the clinical undergraduate courses Gerontological Nursing Practicum, and Clinical Nursing Internship. Additionally, Dr. Schoenfelder teaches an interdisciplinary online course titled "End of Life Care for Adults and Families."

Dr. Schoenfelder has worked with large research teams, such as the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) group, with which she has studied caregiver outcomes, and the Nursing Diagnosis Extension Classification (NDEC) group, with which she developed diagnoses related to caregivers and to fall-related trauma/injury. Dr. Schoenfelder is an Associate Director for the College of Nursing Hartford Center for Geriatric Excellence (HCGNE), and she is Series Editor for the evidence-based practice guidelines published through the HCGNE.
