Biography

Andrea Achenbach, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C, is a faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, where she teaches and provides clinical practice. She is a family nurse practitioner with over ten years of clinical experience in public health and primary care. Her current practice is at the Eastern Iowa Community Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, where she provides care to a predominantly immigrant, refugee, and linguistically diverse population. Her leadership has earned her numerous accolades, including the NONPF Faculty Leadership Mentoring Program Award, the HER Women of Achievement Award, and the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. Dr. Achenbach is known for staying current with research and policy in practice and in areas related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and for advocating on behalf of underserved populations locally and globally. She leads the College of Nursing’s graduate program outreach to rural Eswatini, Africa and Jeremie, Haiti.
