Dr. Anna Krupp’s program of research focuses on ICU-based strategies to improve the care delivery and outcomes of critically ill patients. Her initial focus is on improving long-term functional outcomes of ICU survivors by 1) understanding nurse decision-making within the context of early mobility interventions, 2) identifying patient risk for functional decline using predictive modeling, and 3) describing symptom and physical function trajectories during hospitalization. Her long-term goal aims to develop and implement sustainable, systems-based interventions to improve long-term outcomes for patients that require ICU care.

Dr. Krupp joined the University of Iowa College of Nursing in 2019 after completing a post-doctoral fellowship in health services and outcomes research at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research experience includes both qualitative analysis to study processes in the health care system and quantitative analysis of large datasets. Her research is grounded in over a decade of clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in adult medical-surgical critical settings. Dr. Krupp has expertise in implementing evidence-based practices into health systems to improve outcomes for patients who require mechanical ventilation.
