Jacinda L. Bunch, PhD, RN, SANE-A, NREMT
Jacinda Bunch graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences (Nursing) from Lincoln University in 1992; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2006; a master’s degree in Leadership and Health Care Systems from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2008; and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Iowa in May 2014.
Her clinical background includes medical-surgical nursing, orthopedics, and nursing administration. Dr. Bunch is currently an assistant professor at the College of Nursing, teaching undergraduate nursing courses such as Leadership and Professional Engagement along with graduate instruction in the DNP program. She is an active Advisory Committee member for the International Society for Rapid Response Systems and coordinated their most recent international virtual conference. Dr. Bunch is also a sexual assault nurse examiner with the Johnson County Sexual Assault Reponse Team (JCSART).
Dr. Bunch’s area of research interest is health systems and patient safety, specifically how healthcare providers work to keep patients safe. Dr. Bunch also has a passion for rural healthcare and collaboration with emergency medical systems both pre-hospital and in-hospital. In 2021, Dr. O’Sullivan and Dr. Jacinda Bunch received a grant to develop a mobile simulation program for rural emergency medical services and other critical access providers throughout Iowa.
