Julie Vignato, PhD, RN, RNC-LRN, CNE
Dr. Julie A. Vignato, PhD, RN is an Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Nursing with a program of research in perinatal mental health, adverse maternal child outcomes, and biomarkers. Her research interests include perinatal depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, reproductive pain, preeclampsia, and the perinatal biomarkers/biological mechanisms that link these conditions.
Dr. Vignato has been the principal investigator of studies that have examined the relationships between perinatal mental health and pain during pregnancy through innovative methods in online recruitment. In addition, Dr. Vignato is currently funded by the University of Iowa’s Center for Advancing Multimorbidity Science in a study to 1) develop a clinical predictive model of preeclampsia based on longitudinally collected information on Multiple Chronic Conditions (i.e. perinatal depression symptoms, obesity, headaches, and hypertension) using machine learning and 2) further our understanding of the biological mechanisms that may be able to serve as early biomarkers for preeclampsia.
