In a new partnership, Simulation in Motion-Iowa (SIM-IA), a cutting-edge mobile education program that brings high-quality clinical education to healthcare providers and communities across the state, and Deery Brothers Ford joined together to provide lifesaving emergency training to Deery employees. On Thursday, Oct.10, the SIM-IA mobile simulation truck visited the Iowa City dealership and SIM-IA staff trained key Deery employees in CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed. SIM-IA staff then ran the employees through relevant scenarios using state-of-the-art simulation equipment on the mobile simulation truck. Scenarios include heart attack with cardiac arrest and life-threatening blood loss.
SIM-IA is a mobile education program that brings high-quality clinical education to EMS, hospital professionals, businesses, and community members across the state. Each semi-sized mobile simulation truck features a simulated emergency bay, ambulance box, and video recording for analysis and debriefing, as well as four human patient simulators.
“We are thrilled that Deery Brothers reached out to us for this innovative training opportunity,” says Jacinda Bunch, PhD, RN, SANE-A, NREMT, SIM-IA senior advisor and University of Iowa College of Nursing clinical assistant professor. “They have taken an important step to advance emergency preparedness and response not only for their employees and customers, but for the local community.”
Patrick Eads, Deery Brothers owner and president, says, “We want members of our staff to learn as many life-saving techniques as possible. We hope we’ll never have to use them, but knowing some of our staff and management will be ready in case of an emergency gives us all some peace of mind. ‘Here For You’ takes on a whole new meaning for our customers and we’re proud of that.”
