Ann Marie Rhodes, JD, MA, BSN
Ann graduated from the College of Saint Teresa (Winona, MN) with a BSN and then received a master’s degree in Nursing of Children at the University of Iowa. She received her law degree from the University of Iowa, where she was an editor of the Journal of Corporation Law and received American Jurisprudence recognition in Criminal Procedure, Administrative Law, and Constitutional Law.
Ann worked as a clinical specialist in critical care pediatrics, director of pediatric nursing at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) and assistant to the director (legal counsel) at UIHC. She served in the University’s central administration as Assistant Vice President of Finance and University Services, Vice President for University Relations, and Associate General Counsel before returning to the College of Nursing as a faculty member where she taught health finance, health policy, and professionalism. She also taught Sports Law at the U of I College of Law.
Ann also worked as a columnist on legal issues for the American Journal of Maternal and Child Nursing, the “Ask the Expert” columnist for the Journal of Specialists in Pediatric Nursing and has published extensively on issues related to the law and nursing. Most recently, her research has focused on the legal issues surrounding postpartum depression.
Ann has been involved in a variety of community organizations. Currently she is the chair of the boards of Hills Bank and Trust Company and the Iowa City Free Medical and Dental clinic. Ann is a native Iowan and has three 3 daughters and one grandchild. She and her husband split their time between Iowa City and Waconia, MN.
