Biography

Katie Halbmaier graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2018 from the University of Iowa. She completed an advanced practice provider residency in cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and then started working in the outpatient cardiology. She has clinics specialized in general cardiology, cardiovascular genetics, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)/infiltrative cardiomyopathy. She earned her Advanced Clinical Genomics Nursing (ACGN) certification in 2023. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Halbmaier has been teaching genetic/genomic courses in the RN-BSN program at the University of Iowa College of Nursing since 2016 and developed the genetics/genomics course for the graduate nursing program in 2019, which she continues to teach.
