Peg Stessman, MBA, BSN
Margaret “Peg” Stessman, retired, was the President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and owner of StrategicHealthSolultions, LLC (Strategic) and Chairwoman of Strategic’s Board of Directors.
Stessman began her career as a nurse in 1985 and transitioned into senior management within the healthcare industry in the 1990s. In 1996, she became Quality Assurance Administrator for the State of Nebraska, overseeing Nebraska’s Medicaid Managed Care Program. In 1999, she joined IntegriGuard, a California-based government contractor that focused on program integrity and payment accuracy within the Medicare and Medicaid programs. During her five years at IntegriGuard, Stessman served as Director of Operations and eventually became President and CEO and moved operations to Omaha. She grew the company from a small division of two employees to a wholly owned subsidiary of more than 150 employees with four offices throughout the United States and $24 million in revenues.
Before joining IntegriGuard, Stessman went into business for herself in 1997 and started Strategic, then a consulting firm for managed care providers. In 2005, Stessman restarted and retooled Strategic with the intent of supporting State and Federal governments in preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. She employed a handful of people when she re-launched the company out of her home. Strategic employed nearly 450 people, had three office locations, and achieved revenues in excess of $50 million annually. During Ms. Stessman’s reign, Strategic was recognized for its rapid growth, women in leadership, and support of Veterans winning the Inc. 5000 and Washington Technology Fast 50 award multiple times, Best Women Owned Business award, ESGR Above and Beyond award, and was named Alumni of the Year in 2015 by the University of Iowa College of Business.
Stessman earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. She continues to maintain an active license as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska.
Stessman has served on the advisory board for the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa and serves on the Athletic board of the University of Iowa. She also served as a director on the board at Access Bank and Chaired the Risk Management Committee. She has served on the board for the Nebraska chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization and served for many years as a Cabinet Club member for The Salvation Army in Omaha.
Stessman is married to her husband Dennis for 39 years, has three grown children, and four grandchildren. She splits time between her home in South Carolina and Nebraska and enjoys golfing and gardening.
